i installed the wolf and i started that thread that yourself and 1jz-747 were most helpful in. I got the bastard runnign well without a filter box (the filter box actually made things worse) we ditched the whole factory ignition and installed a 3 channel haltech ignitor with three haltech dual outlet coils to run watse spark, and she runs OK. It is v4 not plus the standard v4 has two trigger inputs now not just one anymore. Both the v4 and v4+ have two now. Id say the problems you had with your wolf were just due to incorrect wiring cause in theory there shouldnt be any problems running the factory igintion.
Cheers for your help mate and if you hear of anyone with 1j or 2j & wolf troubles send em my way and i will try to help.

Ran the car last night, took it for a little drive. It went from 0-115degrees quicker then what it went 0-115km/h. Now im thinking there is something terminally wrong with the engine, doing a TK Head test today (Device used to sense carbon monoxide inside the cooling system) and will see if it has a blown head... I'm stumped
did it boil? (water out the overflow etc?)
was the core of the radiator hot?
didn't change any wiring to the water temp sensors? Mine shoots up to 120deg when I boot it but I think it is because of the grounding of the water temp sensor
thermo fan kick in etc?
well water pump works, thermostat is opening, but at 120 with no coolanet (or actually even with) it would usually be boiling its ring out..
might be worth putting a multi meter on the temp sender and checking it against its specs if you can?
was the heater blowing super-hot air etc?
just out of interest, whats telling you its 120 deg?
thermo fans only really help at low speeds.
Checked radiator cap? I don't see why the radiator is getting very hot but not going into overflow?
Also, if you have the car running and fill the rad slowly see if it start to push back up the outlet quickly. If so, the rad may be blocked.
To check for blocked fins, you can pull the rad out. let it cool and then poor in boiling water from a jug and run your hand across the fins to check that each tube is getting hot. If one tube stays cold at the bottom then it is blocked.
When it got really hot did you get out and check the thermo fan was definitely working?
and was the thermo fan pushing or pulling air the right way?
chris davey has a good point what way do you fans spin?it could be blowing hot air into the radiator if there blowing not sucking.does it use alot of water?are there any other problems?
thats the mistake i made as embarassing as it isjust fudged the wires back to front, had hot air from the enginebay being pulled thru the radiator. swapped the wires back to how they should be and overheating probs are gone
