The 1g-gte doesn't have any way of sensing the boost, it just relies on the AFM reading, so when you hit the maximum of the AFM it has a fuel cut, but then restores itself a second or so later. This also will vary depending on temperature and pressure unlike a boost cut which only looks at the pressure.Originally Posted by Jorrs

I've hit the cut oodles of times, and it's exactly as Hydra explained. The car will hesitate, the check engine light will come on, then a couple of seconds later it'll be like it never happened.
If I were you, i'd go a set of standard NGK's or Densos. They cost $25 tops. The 1GGTE is a piece of piss to change plugs on, so it's not an effort to do it every couple of services.

The worst part of changing the plugs is the ISCV air feed pipe - goes pretty much over #4 from memory... a little annoying but it can be moved with some force.

Exactly what mine would do. Never did a diagnostic on it straight after it hapened, but I put the ECU light down to the massive jolt sending the knock sensors off the scale.Originally Posted by JustCallMeFrank
