motor noise ? rattling.. vibrating sound ?

after a drive a today, i noticed the engine makes a vibrating almost rattling noise after i rev the motor as it comes down of the revs.
Does it in neutral as well as in gear.
has been making a rattling sound as i have been deaccelerating..
though have associated this with the thrust bearing as the gearbox is almost dead as is clutch i believe...
whats thoughts on this one guys ?
would this still be the thrust bearing perhaps as well, just its getting worse and perhaps i never noticed it ?

MMM dont knoe man but i knoe that now that ive got the 3t in my KE20 it is doin the same sort of thing, but in my cass i think it is the sump sitting on the engine X-member cos i sat it so low in the bay. but it really donsnt look like it would just be that cos it is pritty bad, could it be the engine or of balance to a deg?

Pulled the gearbox out of an EF Falcon yesterday because something was making a deafening racket - turns out that 5 of the 6 flywheel bolts had fallen out and everything was a little, er, loose!

my gearbox is sitting on the cross member slightly... as the mount appears to have broken, but its been like that for a while.
it was after some hard driving.. but the motor has plenty of oil, i just dont want it to be something internal..
i took the cat out months ago and it appeared to be pretty blocked... and the cat is located high up neat the turbo.. so perhaps the cat ?

i wouldnt call it a real loud racket, its noticeable though... and lasts only for a few seconds as the revs come down after i give it a fair rev.

oh i only read your post properly jorrs.

my same vibrating noise only does it when i'm going up in revs....so stuffed engine mounts might be rulled out. still couldnt hurt to check them though.

oh true.. yeh this is only once throttle stops.. so maybe somethin with surge pressure as it goes back..... mmmmmm

ive had better look today and showed a good mechanic... it sounds worse with bonnet down as it vibrates onto the bonnet.. they said its nothin to worry about, but couldnt say exactly what it was.

Haha that doesnt sound good. "We dont really know what the rattle/noise is, but its nothing to worry about" !?!?!?!?!?!

could it be that maybe theres something in the exhaust somewhere?

lol well its kinda hard to tell.. and the cars running fine cept for the vibration.. i think its somethin with the clutch as its pretty rooted but yeh..
wonder if anyones had similiar expereince ?

yeh i was thinking exhaust... maybe part of the cat came loose or somethin, though it seems to be situated more in left hand side of engine bay ?

something slightly loose, heat shields, panels vibrating... and since your gearbox mount is broken? could even be that (torque of engine lifting it only when in decel, and only enough to start tapping...)
look for stuff that could either rattle or move and touch...

is it vibrating or rattling?? cos if its rattling i would say some form of an engine mount???
