Oooh sweet, what cams did you get???
As for adjusting the timing of them, who ever's tuning it should take care of that, as it will need to be tuned to suit.
Have bought new camshafts and want to know how to set them up. Have done valve clearances, need to know how to time them properly. Has anyone done this before??

272 degree with 8.5mm lift. Not too big.
Hey mate, did the manufacturer of the cams provide a spec sheet with details of the lobe centres (max lift)? You can set them to this value with a dial gauge on the lifter & degree wheel on the crank.
If no specs are available, it can't hurt to set them at 110/110 as a basline, & work it out on the dyno from there.
Cheers

all cams should come with a Cam Card!
there toda cams! and they came with a cam card if you bought them from Toda.Originally Posted by chrizer

Max lift Intake 106 Atdc Max lift Exhaust 112 Btdc
Wha does this mean??
The max intake valve lift occurs at 106 degrees after top dead centre, the max exhaust valve lift occurs at 112 degrees before top dead centre.Originally Posted by chrizer

You need a degree wheel, fit it to your crank pulley, and find TRUE top dead centre (there will be plenty of V8 tech sites telling you how to do this, just google "dialling cam"), then rotate the crank to 112 degrees BTDC, set a dial guage on one of your exhaust lifters/buckets, and rotate the exhaust cam (obviously with your vernier adjustable cam gears loosened) until you see maximum lift at the valve. Tighten your cam gear locking bolts, & then repeat the process for the inlet cam, except set the crank to 106 degrees ATDC. Now you have the base setting of 106/112, and can further tune your max torque up or down the rev range on the dyno.
Hope this helps. No doubt someone else has replied while i've been typing this...![]()
