sw20 power steerinng not working

hi guys
i have a problem, when i turn the car on the powersteering light is off which normally means ps is working then 10sec later the red ps light appears and i dont have any power steer.
i have topped the levelsup and what not but this is electric so i have no idea where to start looking?
please help...

How low was the fluid? Enough that you might have a leak somewhere? Check the lines, also check the pump for any sign of a leak or indication its not working.

I'm not familar with sw20's, you say its electric?? Have you got a workshop manual for it? Someone with an epc may be able to tell you what that light indicates, ie how to troubleshoot it and what to check.

The other thing to check is the vac lines. I'm talking generic here, how is it electric and different to say, my corolla?

Apparently the powersteering relay is a common fault with these.
Mine has done this a couple of times, I've just pulled over switched the ignition on and off a few times then it's ok again?

Have you checked for diagnostic codes?
Connect terminals Tc & E1 together in the check connector (in the engine bay)

Just wiggle the power steerin relay a few times and it usually solve's the problem. Happened a few times on mine until i eventually got a new relay for it.

You might also want to check basic shit like fuses. Always a good place to start with an electric system.

have u had the engine swapped or an aftermarket ecu fitted

when i do conversions in mr2s once in a blue moon i have to mod the wiring otherwise the

electric power steering doesnt work
