    Default I really f#$ked up...

I slammed into fourth, then stomp on the pedal. In actual fact the stick jumps out of fourth and I unwittingly rev the shit out of my freshly built motor off the dial Something makes a bad noise...then I pull over. Oil pressure may be slightly lower, temp ok. Idles alot worse. Blows no smoke. Doesnt make any more strange noises. But the assembly seems really un-balanced. Power is lower, like it's not porportional to acceleration. The un-blanced "rumble" makes me suspect a bearing somewhere....Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated on where I should look first. Don't post here if you're just gonna tell me I'm a dick. I know this much already. Any help appreciated guys...

    LOL... 4th... hahahha

seriously tho, if it feels like something is unbalanced... that is bad.
    smoke check
    compression check.
spark plug check and leads check (could have just lost a cylinder)

then again, bad noise = not good.. might have kissed a valve...

anyway, if nothing outside the motor is rooted, and compression check is ok.. pull it down to see what went bang.
if compression is bad.. you have to pull it down anyway...

    time for tools good luck

    SHIT MATE!
I would be looking at valvetrain, looking for a smahsed valve seat or streched valve or similar,
Check the valve clearances and any visable damage

Indeed, valve clearance check and compression check would be the first things id be checking.
If it feels unbalanced. A bent rod is highly likely. A compression test will determine this.

Yeah...Karma....Saturday I'll do the usual checks, but I think I'll pull it down and have a good look anyway. I'm too depressed to go out and have a play right now....

Bad luck, sometime the spur of the moment isn't a good thing.

I'd start with cylinder compression and valve clearances first, as these can be checked without removing the engine.

Any chance of a video clip so we can also hear it?

    Holy s&%t dude!!!!

    Not cool.

Well anything i can do you have my number. Maybe get Shamo and George etc together on the weekend. Do a comp test and if need be take off the head.

I've missed a gear a couple of times but never done anything to effect the engine. Must have just been bad luck.

    P.S 4th gear is fast...

I'll be a little more helpful now and say it sounds like maybe a bent rod like the guys above have suggested. If you need any help, I'm also available.
