engine oil - 10W-40 / 20W-50... depending on condition of engine... it's probably best to go mineral at this stage, to be safe..

    oil filter - Z37 (Ryco)
    fuel filter - Z205

Gearbox - Castrol VMX 80 or equivalent

Diff oil - Castrol EPX 80W/90 or equivalent..

edit : all this info is available on www.rycofilters.com.au (although not very clear) and www.castrol.com.au

and if u're lost about what car it is, www.wikipedia.org, compare the pics and conclude if ur ride is a RA, or TA etc etc...

The original oil filter is available from toyota for about $20. This is the best possible way of keeping your oil pressure stable and up where it should be. However, if your manifold and carbs aren't stock, this one may not fit, so your only option in this case is one of the shorter ryco 3/4" thread filters (I think mine is Z408. The advantage of this one is, like the stock filter, it has an anti-drain back valve).
Nikita the RA23 is almost finished .

a smaller filter will help to get oil pressure up quicker on startups aswell, and that's always good.

Jackel - i wouldnt use a Ryco filter, i really dont like them. Regardless of their size, the Rycos just dont build up pressue in the 18R as quickly as the genuine Toyota one does!

If you need a smaller oil filter, the genuine toyota 2JZ oil filter works well - thats what i currently use on mine.

    As for the other info....
    engine oil - use a 15-50 or 20-60. I use 15W-50 Gulf Western Protecta semi-synthetic
Fuel filter - depends on your fuel setup??

W55 gearbox oil - i use Gulf Western Ultraclear Synthetic 75W-90 gear oil. I LIKE IT!

howdy people, i've just done my oil change i used a genuine oil filter $22 (the Z37 is to big by about 2cm, dam waste of $13) and shell helix 15W-50.

Problem is now my oil pressure gauge hasn't moved since i did the oil change. It starts and runs the same as it used to. This is the first oil change i've done since i've owned the car and i'm abit worried no pressure could hurt the engine.

I noticed the gauge was registering lower and lower so i check amount of oil and it was on the low mark. The oil still looked fine before i did the oil change but i couldn't top it up because i didn't know the oil the previous owner used.

I still belive the gauge works fine cause it did before the oil change but can anyone tell me how to check?

on an 18rgeu the little oil pressure sender is on the oil filter mount.
it could simply be a case that as you were playing around that area you may have nudged the wire to the sender. It is just a slip on wire to the sender so is very easy to nudge.

Combined with the fact my engine has an 18rc block, the oil dipstick sits right at the point that the oil pressure sender wire attaches to the oil sender, this means everytime i pull the dipstick out, the wire gets pulled off (obviously you won't have this issue if you have a proper 18rg block.)

Note: I just remembered that i used to put the sender down low in the block in one of the screw style plugs, so your oild sender may not be where i just said it was.
Well at least it is a start for you to look for something.
