bench test it using led's (with a resistor inline and between power source and the led) instead of injectors - hand rotate dizzi (or with drill) to provide rpm source?
ecu Earth ok? without suitable earth the ecu can't trigger the injectors.
I have a really frustrating issue with a Haltech E6K. Bloody thing won't fire the injectors? Injectors have power, there's continuity in the loom to the right pins, all the ECU tell tales indicate the ECU is trying to fire the injectors....it just ain't happening?
Drivers could be dead but i have seen this thing running previously so can't think why, particularly as they are supposed to be tough as nails?
Anyone got an idea of why the ECU is trying but not succeeding in firing the injectors? I'm hoping i have missed something dead simple

It's possible to fry the drivers if you're using injectors with the wrong impedance. I'm not sure if this is the case with the E6K but it's worth looking into.
Just thinking out loud, if one of the wires from the injectors to the ECU is shorting against the body the injectors won't pulse (it's a switched earth), have you checked for that?

in the latest haltek software there is a box which u have to tick
it is called enable injectors
usually from a std tune it is unticked so the injectors wont fire
it is under the fuel setup
Thanx guys,
Chuckster - the testing side is fine, everything is sweet except the injectors aren't firing...have used a test rig in the injector plugs and same result.
Software is sweet sideshow. Like i said it was running in another car...no changes to anything wiring or ECU?
Same injectors as when running Norbie. The short is worth checking though as we already tracked down a bad wire in the dissy loom (12v source).
Jeez i hate wiring gone bad

so with the laptop connected and the software on can you see the injector duty rate
or pulse duration
u can try unpluggin haltek and grounding each injector trigger with ignition on and see if injector clicks
Hey Sideshow...that's a yes and yes mate.
I tell ya it has me stuffed![]()

That's really weird... if the Haltech software thinks the injectors are firing, it surely must be a wiring issue or (outside chance) the injectors aren't getting sufficient current to fire?

If you ground the loom at the ECU end, does it fire? If not, then trace it back.
Last resort is to have a chat to Peter(?) at Alfatech in Fyshwick, he may have an E6K around which he can test with. Same with Ben Wilson from here.

i vote check driver grounding with LED, and then ground injectors by tapping wire and see if they click.... if both tests work, something is screwy![]()

Takai has it right, my car is off the road at the moment, if you want to try a different E6K, give me a call.
I'll PM you my number.
check the haltech for funky smells
Follow stu's testing method, as this will clearly single out the fault as being either
- haltech ouput fault
- injector fault
- wiring fault
there should be no other tests that you perform. Except for maybe the skids test.
...... butt scratcher?!
Could you clarify a bit there Takai? How can i ground at the ECU end? You mean power up from another supply and then test the ground thru the loom ?

Well the injector power supply should be always present when ign is on. Personally i have a power rail dedicated to the injectors and ignitors. That way the ECU doesnt have to supply that current. If you have the ECU supplying the current then just feed 12v into the feed rail from the ECU plug (i.e. with ECU unplugged) and then ground each injector individually from the ECU plug.
Which reminds me, if you have high-impedence injectors you have to change the 3A fuse in the Haltech rack for a 10A (check that it is 10A, im pretty sure the note is on one of the front few pages of the manual or in the setup section), otherwise the fuse will blow.

My e6x manual reccomends going as high as 20A in some cases...Originally Posted by takai
