I also have some pics from the day <click me>.
There were over 200 cars - not a huge turn out of Toyotas except for the old-school corolla group. Next year folks?

Yeah I think I'll be keen to join in the display next year. Seemed much more inviting than for example the Mcleans bridge display on once a year, and more variety than, say, the All Toyota day. Would be good to see it grow in popularity.

Enjoyed the morning fella's but was very disapointed in the turn out of TA22's, only 1...
Might be able to enter mine next year, if you look hard enough you will see my lard tubby ass with the blue hat on in front of the maron TA22 talking to Stef. Pic above that is.
Rosey - you don't need a mint condition car to enter into these shows - other enthusasists appreciate the effort you put into owning and presenting the car.
why didnt anyone with a nice 1st gen celica go, no offense to the maroon ta22 owner(your car looks nice, just your engine bay doesnt look right). i was hoping to see a few nice cars but there was barely anything worth looking at.

damn good question ... it's quite difficult to get toyota owners top come to any kind of event.Originally Posted by lilcrash

Having said that, i like to go to all kinds of events ... but maybe i'm just an attention whore![]()
fwiw, the club is genuinely seeking input into better organising social, show and competitive events for next year and beyond... feel free to drop me a PM
I had entered my TA22, but my son was unexpectedly admitted to hospital so I was stuck at home looking after our other littlies.
Hopefully next year.
personally, i would have entered my car if i didnt have to pay. that is half the problem, ppl organise social events and so forth but want ppl to pay to be there, i dont want to have to pay to have someone look at my car, i do that everyday when it is out side my garage. the $56 fuel to get there and home didnt help matters either.
sorry to here that scottsta22 , is he ok now??
edit: i would just like to add, every car show i have gone to to see cars in ipswich it has been gold coin donation or $2-$3 to get in, how hard would it be for the owners to get in free and the ppl who want to look have to pay?? you would get better funds that way for the purchase of trophies, venue hire, etc..

There was a gold coin donation on entry - but that was for the charity nominated for he event (Angel Flight)... it was not manditory.
$10 entry is pretty cheap for a show-n-shine (same as Toyfest in Sydney).
our own (TCCQ) show is cheaper because we use club funds to subsidise purchase of trophies and organisation costs - but we then have to try to restrict trophies to club members otherwise we're giving away money (in the form of trophies and event organisation) to people outside the club.
The problem with charging for the public at gate entry is that it's already hard enough to get people to come to a Toyota/Jap show without demanding a few dolalrs on entry - also, many of the other shows get larger crowds due to inclusion of hot-rods, dyno, entertainment, etc ... and they are setup to be money making ventures... club show events are by nature loss makers.
You'll find nearly car show charges competitors an entry fee.
thats a good point, oh well until the next one i guess.
