1200det:I expect to have my brakes fitted up in the next few weeks. Will throw up some pics when they're done.

We trial fitted them the other day and my 17's wont clear them. Looking for 18's with massif clearance at the moment.

poombah: whichever way you go expect upgrading the brakes to be time consuming and or expensive. Looking back at how difficult it has been to have these brakes fitted I would consider biting the bullet and buying some aftermarket calipers like AP Racing or something similar. The reason for this is the mounting points for non OE aftermarket calipers are setup differently so it is a LOT easier to make brakets to fit them to a lot of different cars. OE calipers have their mounts in places that are car specific which makes adapting them to other cars quite difficult.

Problem is the aftermarket calipers are very expensive. All this is probably why you dont see many cars getting around with big retro fitted or aftermarket brakes. That said, we all know big brakes and fast lap times go hand in hand....

That said, a set of GTR Brembos often compares price-wise to some of the AP Racing calipers like on GT's Corona.

    *bump*

so has anyone got pics of this setup installed and working on the car yet? (maybe with a full write up about the process would be nice )

Also is this upgrade (r33 gtr brembos + ba gt-p rotors) only for the fronts or is it both front and rear?

Well, over 3 years later and I finally got around to redesigning the FPV caliper bracket.

I'll be doing a set for the Dong probably next week.

    Who else wants a set?

NFI on price, but budget around $120 for the pair (of brackets that is)

I would expect that *some* 17's would clear, but definitely not all.

We'll have to wait until Dong fits it. But given the size of the disc, she should pull up with some passion.

FYI, I just tried my SSR 17's, and another 3-4mm clearance and I reckon they would have fit.

Is there a comparable 4 pot caliper?

Would the 355mm disc with the twin pot caliper be better than a 4 pot caliper and a 324mm disc?

Alternatively, what is the bolt spacing on the FPV calipers? I wonder if another 4 pot caliper will fit these brackets...
    Moo
Apparently I was advertising in my signature, where I just thought I was helping out others... so if you want to know how to get more steering lock in your A70/Z20 Supra/Soarer, you'll just have to search, don't ask me, apparently I'm not allowed to tell you.

    ooooh d0ng heart pewee.

The FPV's also ran 4 pot brembos, designed for the disc, not sure on their bolt spacing pattern. The caliper is a PBR item.

The main benefit of a 4 pot caliper over a sliding 2 pot caliper is weight.
The 4 pots are usually aluminium, where as the sliding 2 pots are cast iron.

The Ford Brembo 4 pots should bolt on to these brackets, but then you'd have a bracket bolted to a bracket, and I'm not sure if many engineers would be happy with that.

I'm also not 100% sure whether the caliper and bracket would clear the A70/Z20 hub (its massive)

y0 Peewee, Do you think it would fit under the Volk 17's? (Possible to test?)

The brakes were not happy at the motorkhana yesterday and I am looking at upgrade options.

Yeah, by all means come around for a test.
But pretty unlikely coz from memory they are a 2 or 3 piece rim, and as such have homosexual clearances
