I'm thinking of going the pop-rivet route, as i dont have access or skills to weld. I only have small bits anyway. I'm thinking if i cut it back enuf and treat it (with rust convertor?), and then fibre glass putty over the top it shud be good?

As long as its been treated properly i dont see how using putty will cause it to rust more?

Holden use a special adhesive to join the front firewall to the rest of the body so it must be good stuff, Its not a major structural area but it is glued on. If it was origionaly a welded section I would reweld it and then coat it with a rust preventative. A good panelbeater will not put a plate behind or over a rust hole he will always cut the area out and replace it with a similar size and thickness panel "BUTT" welded and ground down so that minimal body filler is used.

I have seen a few people attempt this and in all cases the pop-riveted plate showed through the paint within a short period of time, plate moves a dees dick, bog crack, paint cracks.

Where is the rust Hash... cause if it is structural, it must be welded.

The ones behind my rear wheels in the 23 havent moved... and they have been there since a couple of years before I got the car... You can only see them from the inside. They will go when I do the rest of the rust.
