Hi,
Are you on your P-plates?
I ask because I don't feel comfortable advising P-platers on how to make their car go faster.
Furthermore, the first thing you should do is improve the handling and braking performance of your car before you do an upgrade to the engine.

seriously, suspension work is a great way to go if you want to be fast, makes the car so much more fun.
shocks/springs/bushes/adjustable links/wheels/tyres... id do that first.
Depends how much faster you want to go... best bet is to just drive it for what it is; an economic run about. Save for either a project car or some funds so you can trade in and get a 'faster' car. IMO there's no point really spending money on a car like an echo, it will never be that quick and is a poor base to build anything up from even if you through loads of money at it, money better spent elsewhere.
Your facing an uphill battle man, just get it to handle better. The money you will probably have to put into the thing isnt worth it in the end.

hmmm thats true killswitch but im not budgeting for a crazy quick speed....just something to give it more power....what does throttle bodies do? i heard they make it quicker? and what suspension you rekon would b most suitable?
In that case, as others have said a free-er flowing exhaust will improve the power a little and also some cold air induction. On a minimal budget thats probably the easiest to do, not really positive how much extra balls it will give though. No idea on the restrictiveness of the stock Echo exhaust system...?Originally Posted by rexeater
Personally I wouldn't really bother, just grit your teeth and know that the money you save will make your next car all the more faster.![]()
as said before dont sink money into a buzz box, and a FWD at that! dont worry bout anything, there is nothing wrong with thrashing a stock moster, i doand i bet an echo is gonna be faster than the poosar
go faster is a broad term, do you mean go faster off the line/quarter? do you mean go faster with top speed? do you mean faster around corners?
performance = higher fuel consumption, there is no such thing as a free lunch, just thrash it, dont be a tool that puts chromies and a big fk off wank cannon on the back
hmmm like quicker off the line and stuff......
Get a lightweight flywheel for it.
are those expensive?
