Took the turbo apart today and discovered the bearings have sufferent massive surface failure - possibly due to rust. I suspect this turbo has been sitting at a dock somewhere in japan for a long time with no covering on the oil in/outlets and has started to rust. As soon as it started spining on the motor all the rust has come away into little flakes and jammed up the bearings. I rang a couple of turbo workshops and they said for the price it would cost to fix, I could buy a brand new roller bearing turbo.
Thanks for everyones help on this matter!

Even though it is outside the warrenty period you MAY be able to get another one from the supplier. As it hasn't really done any work and wasn't fit for the purpose.

Any parts sold MUST be fit for intended use so anyone who says no warrenty on parts or sorry but out of warrenty can still be made to fix or supply parts to suit.

youd have a hard time holding someone to that. how long out of warranty is unreasonable? and how are they to know HE didnt have it sitting around in the weather for a lengthy period of time?
id speak to the supplier too, but i wouldnt expect that i could make them give me anything.

I agree - I think it would be more than its worth to force the wrecker to give me a new turbo, and 2nd hand t25s are cheap as anything, as a fraction of the total build cost, $200 for a new turbo is nothing!

Again i will say an aftermarket or factory turbo is only $1100 new, new means warranty and no hassles!
