any idea at what power figure, 5/16 lines would be too small?

good question. Im mot 100 % sure but i would say around 250 rwkw it would be struggling but im only guessing.
I cant recall what the late modle supras run but they can make good power from their std fuel system

I upgraded from a vl pump and 5/16 lines to bosch motorsport pump and -6 ( 3/8 ) lines around the 180 rwkw mark

How much will a 1/16 increse in the fuel line size reduce the fuel pressure (other things equal).

pressure is controlled by the regulator and will be the same

As above pressure set by regulator unless pump too small (will give low pressure) or return line regulator too small (will give high pressure).

Going from 8m (5/16) to 9.5mm (3/8) will give you about a 20% increase in pipe are (from 12.5 square mm to 15 square mm) so will give the potential for about 20% more fuel flow capability with same pressure drop along pipe.

    ROUGHLY!

    This isn't entirely off topic.
I have a bosh 040 which will be feeding a 3sge through a custom fuel system.
How safe is it to submerge the pump terminals below the fuel level.
I’ll soon be getting a custom tank made up and the fuel level will be somewhere around 50-60mm above the contacts. I have seen a few stock systems and some have covered over the terminal.
    Will this be a problem?

    Cheers mike

Yes submerged contacst are fine, do make sure they are secure though.

If they were going to ignite at all they would ignite at the brushes of the electric motor.

The conditions inside a petrol tank are not able to support combustion contrary to Hollywood, the mixture in a tank is way too rich to ignite even if tank is nearly empty, unless you leave cap off for a fairly long time.
