POWA, i would still try running a new wire from the sender to the gauge. The fact that your repair changed the scenario suggests a problem there. Failing that go back to the first reply. Slide86. Time for a trip to the wreckers for a new gauge...

ok we are pretty sure that the temp sender is giving the wrong resistance.

Does any one know what the resistance of the standard ke55 temp sender is? Old corollas?
