    Default A340E Oil pumps/torque converters

I am really pissed off now because when i put my gearbox back onto the 1J i put the torque converter on wrong, now i have shat the pump in the gearbox.

so what i am wondering, can these oil pumps be rebuilt? or can you use the pumps from other a340e boxes instead? any that would be usable. i have one from my ma70 7m i was gonna have a look at.

    any help would be grand

any a340e will do, but AFAIK some do have a differant plug (and of course bell)
try looking for a a340e UPTO 92, i sold my rebuilt one for $250pp so they isn't really much love in the a340*, or you could go manual, i know a r154 going atm for around the $1k mark......

Wiso - I assume you failed to mount the toque convertor on both splines - one for the input shaft and the other for the front pump? The pump usuallly shatters or cracks when you try to do the assembly up, so replacement will be your easier option I feel. I too have spare auto's out the back if you need one, send me an email?!

back to this similar problem. i have changed the oil pumps out of my old box, they appear to be the same. got my car all back together tested it up on the stands, it gave a small kick when i shifted it into drive.

today i put it back on the ground top the fluid upto full level while it was running, went through the gears and nothing, there is no kick and it won't move again.

    my question THIS TIME.

when i put the torque converter on wrong the first time, could i have fucked it as well as the pump?

cause i pulled the oil cooler line off and fliud is pumping out, so the new pump is fine. but still, no drive, and i have put almost 7L into the box, cause it was pretty much drained

cheers, i'll have a look at that. anyone else got any suggestions.

this box was untested, it came in the halfcut with onle 73,000km on it. i took the valve body out and got a shift kit done to it. the pan was really clean, and i did clean the filter screen out then, so i figured the box was in pretty good nick

I you checked the screen not long ago chances are its not that , jap import autos suffer a from a lot of heat (stop go traffic)and all the seals go hard earlyer in them than our local autos ,

actually i have checked it again now. looks like when i shat the oil pump the first time all the metal shavings have gone through the box, the sump was full of them and the filter was a bit blocked.

but i am not sure if that may have caused any massive damage to the box internally
