best person to talk to would be "buck naked". not sure if he still posts on here, but he had a thread with his progress doing this exact swap (complete with details on how to convert the box to FWD).
dunno if you're talking to me there 3t, but I did a Gen 3 conversion from an already FWD celica halfcut so it was a straight swap - no MR -> FWD shenanigans.![]()
im wiring one up on mon
its an mr2 3sgte into a celica
they said alternator is on opposite side
They are, brackets are interchangable though. If you need the alternator on the right side. And you'll need to do this anyways, if you want to keep power steering.Originally Posted by sideshow

good work buck!
well guys
conversion is basically done
still a few small issues to complete however I'm driving the car so that
says something
I used the gen 2 motor as a long engine
therefore using my gen 1 ecu, harness, AFM, gearbox, and all other accessories
only major mod was to relocate the starter motor to the right side of box.
plenty to do still to get the most out of it but for my shitter it will do

wow, nice work there mate, how long did the whole conversion take you?
and how close is the back of the inlet manifold to the firewall?
any reason why you didnt use the gen2 ecu and loom aswell?
thanks da horse
if I take out all the dicking around probably only a week to do it
I didn't have a harness or ecu with the motor so thats why I used it as a long
engine

Nice work man! I wonder how it'd compare to a Gen 2 running the Gen 2 ECU? I've heard that there's no noticable power gain unless you swap the computers.
thanks for thatOriginally Posted by AndyTTR
not sure about the power difference
I would asume there would definately be one but I havent been
in a car running all gen 2 stuff to see the difference
its only my daily driver though so I'm happy so far![]()

How much was the Gen2 3S-GE? If it's as easy as that and there's no real stuffing around with wiring, then I'm thinking about doing this later on. Wanna weigh-up costs first.
