Andrew you can still use a bucket... the recycled water at carlovers will never touch my car again, it's already taken me ages to get the swirl marks out from last time.

    Hi,

Best to use 3 buckets. 2 buckets for clean water and the third bucket with your sponge and car-wash in it (or... water and a splash of kero).

Leave the hose on gently and let it fill one of the 2 buckets, and when that bucket is full move the hose to the 2nd bucket. That way you'll always have a bucket of water to splash onto the car - rather than waiting for it to fill.

Personally, I think I use more water using buckets than a quick spray over the car.... but rules are rules.

Yeah for sure that buckets use more. i think this was trying to stop people just leaving the hose on and then washing car then pick up hose to rinse off. But i think just stick it down ones backyard and use the [bucket] hose......

Yup, I reckon the same, but I also agree it's to stop people leaving it lying on the ground..

I know two people from the Water Board who even concur with that statement, and they have a hand in making the rules... but I have a way around those rules.

Guys a little tip on what you can and cant use as I actually sell high pressure washers now so I have to be up to speed.
You can use anything you want to wash your car aslong as it isnt connected to the mains water...The most water concervative way is to use a pressure washer. I can clean my long wheelbase Vito van with about 13Litres I rekkon I could do the TA22 in a bout 8-10....

If you have a Karcher,Gurney,Lavor or Fasa pressure washer most of the range will draw water from a bucket. But it is preferable if you get a 20L jerry can type plastic bucket with a Male to male fitting and tap fitting at the bottom. Now to ensure the life of the washer you are using make sure you "prime" it..So connect it to the hose with the tap on and then turn the machine on,it will take a bout half a second for the machine to switch off when the pump gets enough water.Disconnect the washer from the mains and using a short length of hose (dont use non kink)run the hose from the jerry can(preferably sitting higher than the pressure washer, maybe ontop of an otto bin) into the washer and do your thing..The washer will run at about 10% less pressure but as I said above with the combined 5L bucket of water you can safely use less than 20L every time.Alot even have a "foamer" so you can just plug that onto the end of the lance and it will apply the car wash in a foam for you...

Sorry to ramble on but there is no reason why your car should turn to crap even up to L4 restrictions
