Can you adjust steering stops with rack & pinion?

I have an issue with the new 7" rims on the front of my AE71... the width is just a bit too much, allowing the front inside of the tyre to contact the body at full lock.

All I need is to be able to stop the steering 10mm earlier. Now with an older celica/corolla with recirculating ball steering, there are adjustable stops on the steering arms, so that you can limit the maximum lock position. Is there an equivalent with rack & pinion steering?

im pretty sure they still have a similar thing, however it may be fixed and not adjustable.

just checked my AE71 xmember that is lying around.....


it has no such feature for manually adjusting the stop

no bolt on the steering arm and no feature for it on the control arm

what do they rub on? what offset are your wheels?

one of my wheels rubs on my swaybay at full lock, i think i will replace it once it wears through.

and from what i have seen, you can;t adjust the stops on a R and P, buy some wheel spacers, make it look cool while you are at it

Already have the wheels spaced out a fair way, outer guard clearance may become an issue if I go further.

You can limit the amount of lock but not really adjust it as such.

I used to have 7" wheels on my KE70 and never had any issues...

your track must have been wider than mine i'm guessing.... Any problems with wheel arch clearance under full suspension compression?

Not in the '70. When I put the same wheels/struts/etc. into an AE86 then it started touching the plastic liners a little bit.

Is there anyway you might be able to make them adjustable, ie: put an adjusted bolt setup on the lower control arm??

you could always weld some on.
