Default stock celica trailing arm length

    Hi guys,

I am in the process of sorting out the rear end in my 28.

Could someone let me know what the stock upper trailing arm length is from centre to centre?

Im sure there is either one laying around someones shed, or there is a celica on stand with stock ones that can easily be measured.

Unfortunately (well it was good...) mine are modified, so i have no idea how far they are adjusted compared to stock.

    Cheers

These are the rough sizes that I sent T3 (they made up adjustable ones to suit).

    Hope they help.

probably was me, lol. Yeah, both ends of all rods have adjustable/threaded spherical ends.

His rod-ends have a smaller width than the 40mm mount on the celica (obviously), and a larger diameter than the 14mm bolt. So he supplies machined 'bushes' to fit. He actually supplied me AE86 ones the first time round, and an AE86 length swaybar... but as soon as I sent him an email he sent me out replacements immediately. They fitted perfectly.

i was looking at some that had bushes on the car ends of the rods.

to prevent trying to tear the mounts on the car under diff roll... have you driven yours much with them installed? like/dislike? did gabe make the adjustment right in the middle of those measurement?ie you can go longer or shorter from there?

Hey man, sorry I took so long but I finally sat next to my car and took some measurements.

I measured 245mm on the top arms and 475 for the lower arms. Used a tape measure and eyed it off.

So it seems ae86 and ra celica are same length wise. I knew celica was m14 bolt on the trailing arms(m12 for corolla) but wasn't aware of different spacer widths, celica being 40mm and cororra, 50mm.

    thanks guys,

on the spacer widths - i was looking under my car and i think they may be the same still. Though the metal part of the celica ones are 40mm, my upper arms that have poly bushes in them are 50mm wide over all - ie the inner space of the moun t points is 50mm.....

now to make the decision... Go with the battle version ones with the bushing at one end - but these will require machining of spacers to drop the bolt size from the celica m14 down to the sprinter m12...
or go with the rod ends at both ends, and risk the prob of damaging the mount points on the car.

Unfortunately the AJPS coilovers wont fit (according to them anyway...) and neither will their traction brackets.... which was dissapointing...

    wish it was easier....

Yeah, I measured 50mm at outside of bushes/inside of the upper metal brackets.

Other way round, you need to drill out the 12mm hole in the spacers/sleeves of the BV arms to 14mm.

The other option is to make your own stuff.
    bushed ends - Rod Ends
    spherical type m14 - Teflon® lined - 14mm x 2.00 RH - Rod Ends - Suspension Components - Chassis & Suspension - SummitRacing.com can get in in bigger than m14 and sleeve it down.

    Polyurethane - Polyurethane - Rod Ends - Suspension Components - Chassis & Suspension - SummitRacing.com

    Bushing - Bushing - Rod Ends - Suspension Components - Chassis & Suspension - SummitRacing.com

Buy 3/4 or m14 threaded bar stock or get some made.

You mean the height adjustable spring perches right? Traction brackets are easy to make anyway.

Or if you don't mind bush/bush you could buy whiteline adjustable arms. Another option is to put 90a durometer AJPS bushes into stock arms to decrease bush delfection but cut them in half, thread them left and right handed and get a turnbuckle adjuster made up to do the adjustment. Whichever is cheaper for you.
