Default How to identify what bellhousing your supra box has?

How do you tell if the W series gearbox has a M,G, or J series bellhousing??

I know my A340E auto box has a big M cast in the under side of the bellhousing. Are the manual boxes the same??

    Thanks Andrew.

I know my M and my G ones had a small M or G cast into them, almost looked like a casting mark it was that faint/thin/high.

From memory it was the drivers side, but it may differ.

Yep, most bellhousings - but not all - have their engine origin cast into the leading lip. It's usually covered with clutch dust, so you'll need to look closely. If it still doesn't have a cast mark, you can use sandwich plates to help determine origin.

The 2JZ-GE, W58 bellhousing, has a cast marking "W-J", and the auto has "Ji".

    cheers Chuck.

Thanks for all the replies. The guy who has the box for sale can't find anything on it. It's too far for me to drive over and look myself, so I'm going to let it go.

I think you'll find thats a J1, while the JZS131 will have a J2 (if its anything like the UZS131 vs every other 1UZ car)
