We've done it once, you did it once, and I did the last one. Which one worked?
Haha, mainly because of the amount of time spent with wet and dry to ensure a perfect seal![]()

I put the first one in.
I pulled the first one out.
I put the 2nd one in.
I pulled the 2nd one out.
You tidied the crank,
I put the last one it coz you didn't want to.

I swear I put the last one in and just got you to check it?

Possibly.
But I seem to recall you not wanting to do it.
Unless it was actually me not wanting to do it coz I said if it leaks again its your fault?
Meh.

Has a genuine seal been used, non gen seals are shit .
D
Genuine? Toyota seals? hahahaha
You mean NOK seals?
The 2nd one put in was a RANCH seal. That looked crap.
But the 3rd one was a quality seal, name escapes me right now.

+rep dished out.
up to 501 for cruzida![]()
hello
quick one,
ive never replaced one before, the whole aim is to get that part of the crank smooth as possible? fine grit sandpaper?
*hovers mouse over cruzida* "cruzida listen to this one"
doesnt really make sense though, it could do with a comma i think
hello
That part of the crank should not need touching, unless you scratch it while removing the seal.
Because when I put the first new seal in, (I put it in way too deep), to remove it took a lot of effort and force.
If you only put the new seal in the same amount as the current seal is, you will not have this issue.
Just give the crank a good wipe after you remove the first and feel for any nicks and gouges.

Haha, I concur with Peewee, genuine seals are made by NOKOriginally Posted by cambelt1

A LOT.

After removing the old seal, before putting the new one in, it is also a good idea to clean any varnish or sludge off the end of the crank.
Carb cleaner can be used for this. Fine emery cloth can also be used, but only "sand" it circumferentially (direction of rotation of the crank)
