Just think of the tanker Coffee would have to have following him on this trip!
Hey all,
We've got a big trip planned for Toyota Fest 2010, so I'm going to get in early with the planning. It's going to be a longer trip than our previous one, taking in more states and more places. And no, I'm not bailing this time
Initial plans are to start from Adelaide, transporting our cars there and flying over. From there down to Melbourne via the GOR again. Across Bass Strait for a 4/5 day driving tour of Tassie. From there it's up to Canberra, this time via the Snowy Mountains rather than the Hume. Up to Sydney, via Kangaroo Valley , Macquarie Pass, the Seacliff Bridge and the Royal National Park. The next day is Toyotafest. In our hungover states we plan to do a day trip to Bathurst for a lap around the track, the track is closed the day after so hungover it is. Back in Sydney for the drags, then up to Brisbane and to Cairns. Day to relax up there, then eventually we'll head across to Darwin. From Darwin it's across to Broome and Ningaloo, before coming home from the North. It's a whole butt-load of km. Reliable cars onlyIt's going to take around a month. We're looking between 14000km and 15000km at the moment, the final route is being tweaked as we speak.
We're also keen for people to join along the way, if you want to tag along for a leg of the journey, you're more than welcome.
The following are the maps of each day. I'll be updating them with fuel availability, accommodation etc. but the links will stay the same. I'll update them as I've completed them. Day 1 = Saturday 25th of September 2010
Day 1 - Adelaide to Warrnambool
Day 2 - Warrnambool to Melbourne via GOR
Day 3 - Devonport to Queenstown
Day 4 - Queenstown to Hobart
Day 5 - Hobart to St Helens via Port Arthur
Day 6 - St Helens to Devonport via Launceston
Day 7 - Melbourne to Canberra via The Alpine Way
Day 8 - Canberra to Sydney
Day 9 - Toyotafest and Lowenbrau
Day 10 - Bathurst Daytrip
Day 11 - Relax in Sydney / Prep cars
Day 12 - Relax in Sydney / Prep cars / Drags
Day 13 - Sydney to Warwick
Day 14 - Warwick to Brisbane
Cheers,
Nathan

Might have to look into meeting you guys in Melbourne and tagging along for the Tassy to Dubbo section of the trip I reckon.
Sounds good Josh. More the merrier.
I'm just trying to work out distances, particularly on the way home is going to be LOOONG days.

sounds like a lot of fun, but why the 2009 not 2008?

It all comes back to two things, money and time.
Our last trip was expensive. This is going to be mucho expensive.
With everything going on, I'm going to need time to accrue leave. I'm also going to need time to get my hopefully new car ready for the trip. I'm also going to need time to save, with a mortgage I need to make sure my finances will be covered when I go away. I got a bit unstuck following coming home from the last one.

If anyone has any particular requests they'd like to stop at along that particular route, speak now or forever hold your peace. I'm working out the exact routes as we speak, and am trying to list things to see on the way and/or things to do at destinations (time permitting of course).

That's from eastern states to perth.
Perth to eastern states is alot cheaper, as the trucks are generally heading back empty. It's called 'backfill' or something. Anyways, i've heard its' around $300 to ship out of perth.

Dude - it's two years away - you're asking an internet forum to plan that far ahead - most of them can't even get out of bed on time?!?Originally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando
