Well had to spin at some stage. May as well be on the second time out. Had a ball. Can't wait until August. Good photos Bob.
Second that about Michael - it was an absolute laugh to watch. Every corner - "nah, he's not going to hold that - f**k me, he held it and he's still got his foot buried". Super impressive to watch. And in a car that - well, it's not really setup for anything.

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum. You & the Celica did well for the first outing - especially as I know how old those tyres are!!

Need to get some newer ones off someone...
What's under the bonnet of the Celica? I noticed the Wilwood brakes, and hoped there might be something exciting in the power department to match
Cheers

Hi Phil,
Old school 18rg. An engine that has been sitting around for about 4 years. Nothing flash yet.
Looking at options but leaning towards staying old school.
That's the spirit , stay old school !!!! you don't want one of these modern BLOW JOBS . Stay N/A and just drive the pants off it !!!! There is nothing like the sound of carbs or throttle bodies early in the morning.

Thought you might agree Phil.
Nice compact engine, easy to install, can make great power, set it back for better weight distribution, etc.
Or a 4AGE with quad throttle bodies. May not be super fast but will sound good.
I seem to recall a 1UZ being shoehorned into a first gen Celica?

Or 3TGUE ,bored to 1998cc with a light flywheel , high lift cams and twin 45mm webers , much lighter than a 18rgeu and more power . Excellent as a under 2 litre type 3 class car. A good t50 series and t series rear end will take the power so no need for expensive upgrades. A mate in Melb built a RA28 liftback Taga Tassie car a few years back to the above spec , it was a real suprise to a lot of more expensive cars in the event and blew them away. And you talk about sweet sound , very similiar to a certain Master BATES RA40 noise.
And that leads to another option , definitly a FEW MORE $$$$$ , bit the Toyota Beans motor 50mm carbs and Altezza box with a cut Hilux rear end.
Sorry --- got to stop now starting to salivate to much !!!!!!!!!!
Beans set up in THE RA40
