Default Help wanted - EP91 Starlet 2 Door Rear Speaker Wiring

Hey guys, I have a 2 door EP91 I'm running around in (and quite a nice one mind you) while my 20V Granny Hatch is getting fixed up. After about 8 months of putting up with the stock FM radio and tape player (of which no normal person has any use for) I seriously want to shove one of the many MP3 CD players I have lying around into it. But I was looking around and couldn't find any stock location to fit some speakers to in the rear, as I don't want to be cutting up the panels/parcel shelf to put them in to keep the resale value up, as it will be sold as soon as the 20V is running again. There are definetely wires for it running from the back of the stereo, but I've pulled off every panel in the rear and can't find where they go, and there are no wires running into the doors at all. Does anyone know where rear speakers are normally installed in these cars? Cheers

Hey, this is what the wires look like, they come out of the drivers side.
I was thinking of mounting my speakers to the parcel shelf - two years ago...

...so what ended up happening instead? LOL...
All good mate, I kinda figured it out on the weekend anyway. Will post pics of what I end up doing eventually. At the moment that consists of the stock 5in speakers out of my AE101R's doors, the grills for the kevlar cone speakers which replaced them , and a socket which I found fitted the abovementioned plug perfectly. This came from my (now sold for the nose cut) AE101R, and was the connector going to the windscreen wiper motor, attached to the side of the fusebox behind the passenger side kick panel. A tiny flathead screwdriver to remove the bigger power pin in the middle of the socket assembly leaves you with 4 wires to solder to your corresponding speaker wires to. This also has the advantage of making the parcel shelf easy to remove by simply unplugging the connector and pulling it all out together. Hopefully this weekend will spare me some time to do the deed and post photos. And the reason I'm using crappy stock speakers instead of spending money on good ones: this car will be sold as soon as my 20V's back on the road anyway, so I'm not into spending big bucks on it, otherwise yes, I have some much better options available to me...

Well, I never got around to doing it. lol.
But yep, a connector for quick removal would be the go.

Well here's what I ended up doing:

Sounds heaps better, the rear speakers now drown out the fronts, even when biased towards the rear, that's how much better they are. Highly recommend this as a budget upgrade. And of course, the added plug makes for very easy removal of parcel shelf, which has come in handy a few times already. Ciao...
