definately unacceptable play. You can also see where the fins have touched the compressor housing, polishing the metal. Replace ASAP.

My ct26 has similar shaft play, not quite as much.
maybe when the oil warms up and thins out a bit its able to get past the seal in the turbo.

Certainly looks to be closer to the end of its life than the beginning You must have better eyes that me though kedz, I can't really see in the vid that it has clearly contacted the housing? A high res close up photo would show it though if that is the case.

Remember that with the engine running, oil pressure fills the void between the turbo shaft & bush journal (hence "wet floating" bearing), so it doesn't necessarily move as far as you can inflict when stationery. That said it still looks pretty borked.....

certainly hasn't chewed itself out in a terminal fashion. Generally you'll know when it makes contact, because boost will be accompanied by a nasty high pitched shriek as aluminium makes love to itself at high shaft speed

Have you cleaned the inlet of that turbo, or is that exactly as it was when you removed the intake pipe? From how it looks you certainly don't appear to be ingesting enough oil from excessive blowby, which if your breather setup is correct, should be carrying oil vapour from your cam covers, through the breather to the pipe between the turbo inlet and AFM, in which case that inlet & compressor wheel should be visibly oily..........

That's not to say though that your engine isn't burning oil from drawing oil up past the rings under vacuum, just odd that if its got that bad a ring seal, it should also be pushing quite a bit of blowby bia the breather as well.
