    Default removing f series axles

    hey guys,

did a search couldnt find anything. Anyone suggest a way of removing the axles out of a IRS f series diff? (the short stubby ones coming out of the diff itself) The mark 2 trsm suggests using a special service tool that just looks like a slide hammer. However on the inside of the axles it looks like there is a little gear/mesh thing that keeps the axles form coming out.

Might be a noob question but ive never worked on a diff before

    thanks!

I've used two cold chisels in the past

There is a little 'C' type ring that stops the axles coming out - It will make sense when you get the first one out

I concour with Wilbo here, the shaft is retained into the diff casing by a simple "C" ring, When being installed the "C" ring is compressed into the relieved section of the axle, The same thing happens on removal the "C" ring is compressed and the axle slides out. I use 2 builders crow bars, and out they pop.

    cheers Chuck.

Javal, I did not know that the drive shaft for an IRS had the same bolt pattern as a drum.
