Default Cleaning ' wood oil' off paint.

Say you have a nice RA28 with a reasonable paint job but someone managed to spray the entire front of your car with a mixture of linseed oil / turps 50:50. ( note to self - move car before wife oils recently built carport and merbau screening).

It is rock hard and after 3 polishes it hasn't budged.

what can i use to get it off.....

    1. Turps?
    2. Kero?
    3. Buffing machine?
    4. Repaint car?
    5. ??????

    Bugger,

It all depends on what the car is painted with, original factory or resprayed acrylic, air dry enamel, or 2 pack.

If it is 2 pack, you have more chances of saving it with most cleansers like prepsol or turps. You could also try light rub with 2000 wet/dry then buff and polish.

Painted in anything else could be rub back and respray as the oils would have gotten below the surface.

    Good luck

turps.. it should be right, go slow though in small amounts. apply to rag, not surface. keep changing rag

Rosie, have a go with "Detailing Clay".

It will remove tar, overspray, etc.

Simply spray the panels with water, rub clay bar all over the panels, then chamois off water. For best results polish afterwards. WARNING: Expect your panels to be smoother than ever before and partner to be angry because you're now spending more time with the car.

twentyEight you wouldnt even know ya big gina, everyone knows you build shit cars

edit: turps will be a lot quicker, i havent heard of detailing clay but if anyone would know it would be twentyEight. when i was about 16 i spray painted the mail box, which made my dad happy until about a day later when he realised the passenger side of his M5 was now a spotty stratco cream colour

well here's the latest on the new beemer situation.. i am not shitting you

    story goes:

just hours ago. at the aiport feeling like shit, expensive blonde girlfriend (EBG) pulls around and there are many, many taxis around and theres noise all about. jump in the car and EBG is sitting there with the aircon going full ball and the windows are up. this makes me happy considering the weather.

so we get to to EBGs work and she gives me a peck on the cheek and a bit of a raz to let me know she's missed me while ive been away at work and says "dont have too many wines with james will you or you'll spoil the fun with me later". this also makes me happy.

then i chuck a u bolt and kill the A/C and wind the windows down for the short trip back to my house. pull up at the first set of lights and a banged up old korean thing is sitting next to me rattling like all fucking hell. i think to myself "fuck me she's about to shit it!"

then i pull up at the second set of lights which is just 1 block from home next to this xr6 ford or something and fuck me it sounds rooted too!

    my gut sank.

limp the poor thing home and kill the motor. it stops instantly (seized piston? ) it in the drive way and i can hear air wheezing its way out of the radiator hose. pop the bonnet and sure enough a cloud of black smoke engulfs the garage

on further inspection. driven into a gutter while parking, radiator drained. engine oil jus above minumum. well EBG informs me at least because she knew the car was telling her to top up the coolent but since the temp guage wasnt going over where it normally does she didnt bother. "but i check the oil! and it was ok!" a confident little EBG that she is

i give her some credit and look for the temp sensor. sure enough its placed at the top of the motor where there is no water (who does this? fucking krauts! toyota doesnt!!! ), so its measuring the air temp in place of the water

    fuck my life
