    Hi,

Yeah... when your kids get older you can tell them that you took the old 'rona for a spin around Eastern Creek... and, you got the pics to prove it!

Looks like everyone had a good day.

I thought it would be a bit of an eye opener to see how strictly they enforce the original classics thing

It was a great day. Yep, your 51 could of gone there and it would not be out of place with the other modded classics about. And, if the rules are slack enough to have modded classics, I can see Toymods having at least 20 spots or more next year!

The rules be slack is an understatement.

Cars just leaving and arriving to the show at Random was a massive eye opener. I dont think I have ever been to a show that was less regulated. BUT it was still a great day and I am already looking forward to next year.

I had been looking forward to this show for ages. The Crown was looking pretty good as was the rest of the Toymods' cars. Unfortunately I didn't get to see very much of the show because I was feeling quite crook most of the morning. I only lasted till very early arvo and had to call it a day as I wasn't getting any better. As it turns out I ended up in hospital that night and had surgery on a strangulated hernia early the next day. I've just been discharged this arvo and am feeling very second hand at the moment.
Doing the laps was pretty cool. I reckon I had a perfect line through all the turns as Pete's photos show. It was great seeing the classic Toyotas out on the track if only very briefly.

Anyway, hopefully we'll get to next year's show and I'll be able to enjoy it a lot more.

    Cheers, Greg.

Glad you are on the mend Greg.

What was the general public's reaction to the old Toyotas?

When you can show brand new falcons, 2 year old hondas, and extremely modded datsuns or nissans? cant remember what it was, with holden 5 litre v8 engines is it a genuine classic car show? I think that let Shannons down, i could understand if it wasnt Shannons, but with Shannons backing it i dont know.....maybe they just wanted to fill spots?

I was really suprised at the amount of interest the Toyotas got, especially given our location.... and was reaslly suprised at the comments on my RT40. The old Toyotas brought back a lot of memories for quite a few people.

As River said and im new to Toymods, but from what if seen on these forums if its as loosley regulated next year i can see Toymods easily displaying 20-30 cars, even if the only classic thing about them is the body with "new age mods" and mag wheels.

The old Girls all got a really good responce actually. River had the ToyotaFest flyers with him and we got a few enquiries about that from Closet Toyota Owners who had other cars displayed on the day

The funniest part of the day for me was 2 old guys walking along chatting about the Toyota's, They walked past and admired and chatted about Rivers RA25, Then his RA28 and then my MS75. When they got to Gregs MS45 they both stopped and started commenting on how we never got that model in Australia and that they had never seen one I chuckled good and hard. They didn't blink an eye at the only RA25 GT imported by Toyota or one of the only 12 or so MS75's in the country. But those MS45s .......

Once we are officially part of the CMC, River and I wil be having a chat to the powers that be about WTF they were thinking about this years entries. As far as I cantell tho, each club states how many cars will be attending and pays fo rthe spots. The cars dont seem to be screaned or looked at by the CMC.

The datto 1600 with the big fuck off intercooler and the 280Z with a holden 5.0l were 2 stand outs in the cars near us and I didn't mind them at all. The current model volvos and Honda civics and shit I thought was a disgrace tho.

The phattest car I saw at the show was the series 1 GTR skyline I saw in the carpark when Pete was racing me home to get tools and parts to sort out the unmentionable field modification. Thanks again Pete.
