tips on removing instrument cluster ms112-help

i have just tried to remove the instrument cluster on my old crown 81. nearly ended in tears,... does anybody have a tip on how to dis connect speedo cable. I need to change some blown bulbs on the warning lights and relace the background light globes as they are very dim. got the front cover off but could get to the speedo cable
please help

Disconnect the speedo cable at the gearbox end... then you should be able to pull the instrument cluster (and speedo cable) out far enough that you can undo the speedo cable from the cluster.
