Question 1980s TOYOTA TEST ENGINES Who knows about this???

    Hi fellow toyota owners,

I was having a dicussion with someone over here the other day and have now really wanted to no the answers about this and have been thinking to myself if its true or not.....

On this Toymods club there is the most knowledge i think that can proberly be known about toyotas somewhere discussed or either known from members and just not talked about, in other words i dont think there is much about toyota that someone doesnt no in this club!

Which is leading to my next point in saying that if this is true the answer should be found here?

What i was talking to this person about was the fact that he says he has got a ma61 toyota celicaxx or celica supra, and he says it has got a 5MZZU engine in it which was made by toyota in the very early 1981 year and only about 15 or so where produced and his is one of them.
I am wanting to see this in person for myself and get photos to know for sure if it really does exist but until i can find that out it will be a strange mystery.
Apparently the car was sourced around five years ago here in nz for cheap and then a big difference was spotted under the hood with a twin supercharged 2.8 5m engine there and running factory 9psi boost and was deemed unsuccessful by trd and toyota. if this is true this must be very rare, even more so than my factory intercooled mteu ma63 mk2.

Does anyone know or heard of this? or can we say that this is all a load of s*&t!!

    Cheers

5mzzu ?? sound like shit. doesnt even sound like a genuine toyota engine code. eg, no 'e' ?? so a carby twin SC 5m meeting 'u' emissions requirements? eh?

could someone have just added the supercharger before the guy bought it, and the guy is just claiming its a stock engine?

email the nice folks at toyota, i'm sure someone over there could help you out?

Do Toyota repeat the code letters for Supercharge and Turbocharged if its a twin setup =\ I thought it was just 1G-GTE not 1G-GTTE

Nope, it's always just been the one letter, same with the JZs.

    thanks for the comments fellas,

yes thats what i thought too, there was the zz series engines but not zz for twin supercharged, i dont think there has even been twin supercharged engine before?

If this guy happened to show me and i ever got to see it in person, the first thing i will be doing is posting the pics and firewall plate of it straight up to here!

but more likely its been done buy someone else later on, if it even exists not by toyota.

I will email toyota and find out more about anything like this....

until then though its all confirmed BS

And I remember a HKS kit from the 80s/90s that added a turbo to the 4A-GZE.

But why would there be a need to have 2 superchargers for a 2.8L engine? Unless you're using 2 from the 4A (SC12?).

pridy much the owner in 1981 bought the car & asked for it to be speced up from factory to the full spec they could do & spaired no money doing it in 1986 it was bought over by the owner when he moved it was blowen up some time arround here by the owner & was sold off
it was de reged & sat for a while before in late 1987 the new owner put a standed motor & re vined it with it in when i bought it it came with every thing that had ever been changed on it only thing missing is the ECU i still have every thing from the orrignal badges right thro to vin plates number plates & motor the

apparently the reason why that HKS kit is so rare is because it's was worth a small fortune at the time
