22re corona air filter

I'd like to change the air filter on my 22re corona wagon for a more sportier version. I'm not really wanting to improve performance or anything like that. I'd just like to put a pod filter on there or something similar for the look more than anything else. Don't like that big ugly filter on there now. It looks like it should be on a 40's car not an 80's legend like the Corona.

So, went to supercheap to get a pod filter only to find none they have will fit my motor.

Anyone ever changed filters on a 22re Corona ?????

most likely you will need to buy/make an adaptor to bolt onto the AFM so u have something to clamp on the pod. thats what i did to my 22re.

Too be honest mate, looks is about all it will provide plus some $$ out of your pocket. To change it for a performance mod is a waste of time and money on the 22RE... the difference is negligable, and I have also read that it can have a negative result. Better to pick up some RA-65 extractors/headers, with a 2" mandrel system etc.

If you want to to get something that looks good under the hood, but also actually improves something, get a Kelway Strut Brace ;-)

I've heard they can improve handling so I might do that when I get some front shocks in the not too distant future. My wagon doesn't really like going around corners. Wants to keep going straight ahead, though I've just put some 215/60/15's from a r31 skyline on it. Made a difference to the cornering after having 195/70/14's. Bit heavy in the steering, but, handles better, but, still not great, but, they look good.

Or, you could also look for an RA65 or SA63 Celica front sway bar (which I am currently doing). They bolt straight up and are 27mm thick, as opposed to the RT142's 24mm.

Thanks for that information. Any hints on helping the handling are greatly appreciated. A while back I did the rear shocks and the improvement in handling was 100 %, more or less. Much better. The old shocks were to the point of not working at all. About a week later I decided to put some standard king springs in the rear to help even more. Had the opposite effect. Handled worse, though I'm putting that down to the front end needing shocks and springs to even it all up, so to speak. The front shocks look of the same vintage as the old rear ones so I imagine they're not doing a lot either. They'll help, I'm sure.
