if you run a remote oil filter setup, does it matter which way you mount it?
by that i mean, vertical, threaded end to the ground?
i'm not certain if it would have any effect on oil pressure, that's all.

Bout the biggest annoying thing will be doing oil changes. everytime you loosen the oil filter, the oil runs down and you get your hands all dirty!![]()

Check out www.perma-cool.com have a look at the universal kits, and different options for the remote setup. It'll give you an idea, not sure what similar products are offered by others, but i heard good things about these and was happy, would buy them again.
Can't buy from their website, but www.summitracing.com is my other recommendation for that side of things.

may sound silly, but...asking the obvious...unless you change oil very frequently....what is the advantage/purpose of having a remote oil filter install?

So you can put the filter someplace it will even fit. Sometimes custom exhaust parts etc. get right in the way of where the manufacturer put the filter. If not, you'll still know just why you bought one every time you change the oil on a car with an external wastegate right next to the filter location - it'll soon pay for itself in savings on bandages from 3rd degree burns!
im prolly gonna have to get one of these for my ra23 powered by a 1ggte. once its all in, its a snug fit. and getting in under the plenum to take out the filter will be a task in itself...
remotely mounting it somewhere saves u time. makes things a whole lot easier...

Please make sure of the inlet & outlet- flow direction!
That old filter you're removing is filtering at its best & doing smaller particles, unless its sludged up from severe service(old lady 15 minutes a day driving, always on cold starte/choke. racing is not a severe condition for a filter), the a new filter will.
^^^ i was thinking of the bling factor aswell
i suppose there is a point made with modified exhaust manifolds in cars that weren't meant to have that particular engine! than again!!!

theres a few reasons... but mostly ease of access.
also, if you are fitting an oil cooler anyway, remote mounting the filter makes it a bit easier for the block take off, and easier to use thermostat..
basically.. it frees up space for manifolds, turbos and superchargers![]()

further to what stu said - in the case of adding an oil cooler, the other option is to fit a sandwich plate between block and oil filter. Unfortunately for many of us, the space around the oil filter is about a bees dick anyway, so the sandwich plate just makes things even harder/impossible - hence the relocation.
plus once you gotta pay for a sandwich plate, it's not much more expensive to get it remote mounted![]()
