Hi,
i just acquired a 2TGEU locally and now require some help...
i have no idea what im looking at really...
The motor has been changed to twin Solex's
now my questioning begins...
its missing:
Water Pump Pulley
Alternator
Flywheel
Linkages
The Dizzy appears to have no tab to bolt it down...
now my questions are as follows...
can i use:
3TC Water pump pulley and alternator
3TC Flywheel
Where can i get a linkage kit from
and whats the go with the dizzy?
and does anyone have on leads on a 2TG gasket kit?
any and all help will be muchly appreciated
Cheers
OK I've never seen a 3TC to compare to a 2TG but as 2T and 3T i believe to be the same engine just a different Crank 2T part should be interchangable and the 2TG is a 2T just with a different head (around about there are some other difference but manily internal)
So what I'm sayin Yes I'm sure the water pump pulley should be the same. I know for a fact the flywheels are interchangable the 3TC is heaier then the 2TG but will bolt up. Rodger on this website does make cable kits for the 2TG so best to talk to him.
This is the kit he makes up.

The dizzy doesn't have a tab it uses a piece of pressed steel with a semi circle at the end to fit around the dizzy and is bolted down to the block. The 2T has the same system.
As for gaskets I've been getting mine from

There is more information in the forum if you do a bit of searching.
Hope this helps

You can use a 3tc water pump you have to cut off and plug the bypass hole. On my 3tgteu the water pump pulley was smaller than the 3tc to clear. use a 3tc flywheel no prob.
I would bet you could use a 3tc/2tc dizzy.
TE-72 (T-18) w/3tgteu fully built
Haltech e6x direct fire/sequential
ae-86 (levin) footwork
TE-71 w/1uzfe
Autronics SM4
My local parts store (Bursons) was able to get me a 3tc water pump and a gasket kit. I had to modify the water pump as described above. Flywheel, well if you can afford an aftermarket light one I’d definitely recommend it. The heavy 3tc one will sap the engines performance. I've got a lightened 2tc one (7kg) and heavyduty PBR clutch in my garage. PM me if your interested. But get a lighter one if you can. I think i also have the dissie thing your after.
Oh and a throttle cable is better than linkages as linkages get sloppy.
ok...firstly, thanks for the responses
secondly, i went to the workshop today to see what i could do with the motor as far as getting it ready to bolt in goes...
i can now confirm that:
3TC/4A T50 with a 3T bellhousing will bolt up to the 2tg no worries
3TC Water pump pulley can be used if you also use a 3TC alternator and pulley ***
3TC Bay Loom will work fine with the 2TG ^^^
cant get locally available lightweight 2TG flywheels...will look if i can get light weight 2tc ones...
ill set up TDC tomorrow and then see if the 3TC dizzy will work...
cheers for the help fellas
note:
*** i dont have a 2tg alternator so cant confirm on the 3tc water pump pulley working with 2tg alternator
^^^as stated above, i am using 3tc starter motor and alternator, so that may be needed to use the loom
I think you'll struggle to get a light flywheel for a 2tg locally aside from a lightened STD one. I got my new one from TODA who shipped from japan. Took about a month from memory. Definitely worth the wait tho.

If you use the search function it should come up with this for water pumps:

Once you have the correct water pump and matching pully, every thing else should fall into place.
And for the linkages I recommend you contact Rodger:

The original 2T-GEU magnetic pick up dizzy has a tab to secure the dizzy onto the block. If your innovative enough I'm sure you can knock something up with a piece of scrap metal and a screw..
