for a manual trans 1jz.. its very common that although we set our peak boost with normal boost controller at ..lets say...20psi... for the 1st gear most of the time we are not be able to load up enough to build 20psi... the most it will go around 13psi.... and then on 2nd gear the load is bigger and i could load up to 17psi... then on 3rd gear i manage to gain my full 20psi...
so for the manual controller its shows its weakness this way.... however i do get to know that the common good EBC with pressure feedbacks tend to hold set boost nicely with an intelligent solonoid that could help to 'make up' boost if small turbo tends to drop boost on higher rpm... and also eliminate spike as well...
however for problems like unable to load up preset boost on the lower gears would the boost controller be able to compensate or make up to the preset boost of 20 psi i mentioned just now... if yes then whats you guy's recommendation? im eyeing on the greddy profec B ... nothing much was mentioned in the instruction manual. so i have no idea whether it could do the job.

In theory, the EBC should prevent wastegate creep. In those first 2 gears you may a see a small improvement. I'd be suprised if you see the full 20psi though, load is a big requirement.
Is it a viable option to go for a slightly taller diff ratio?
Don't know the specs of the Greddy unit sorry. FWIW I'm looking at a Turbosmart Eboost 2.
Cheers
Phil
I used to have a Gizzmo, and until yesterday when I sold the car, I had an eBoost2. It was brilliant. Easy to setup, nice boost control, shift buzzer, tacho, external output. If I was getting another turbo car any time soon, it'd definitely be the way I'd go again.

meaning to say that if im not using an auto its near impossible for me to load up full boost at the 1st 2 gears?

eboost 2 ...u cant go wrong im running one now its freaking awesome all easy to use very awesome controller
i got a quote frm my local dealer about the eboost2 (40psi version) is at RM 1860.. whichs converts to AUD620 appx.. is the price reasonable?

I got a gizzmo for my girlfriends starlet GT, seems to work fine
Insttructions are a bit dumb but once you get your head around the stupid flow charts it's pretty easy to set up.
Were on special at modyourcar.com.au for 249, seems they've gone up to 299, still one of the cheapest ebcs around.
But if you have more to spend, the dual solenoid blitz one is popular, they draw some dead flat boost lines on dyno sheets i've seen.
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new
cool thanks draven i'll try and find one

eBoost 2. Only EBC a LOT of people I know will use, installed on a couple of friends cars and it's brilliant.
yeah they do look the goods but it way to much more than I want to spend and I don't want all the features its got.

Gizzmo IBC arent a bad EBC for the price sold a shiteload of the with no complaints. Even though about 1 for myself coz would fit in the old clockspace in the cressy and nearly looks just like a LCD clock. You can't really go past an eboost but at nearly $800 they are an expensive bit of kit. Fantastic contoller and turbosmart are awesome to deal with support wise.

I have a blitz ID3 dual solenoid on the drift car, arguably the best on the market
its never spiked, it has a screen with a graph so u can look back over the last half a minute or so and see your response and boost level. has a safety cut so if it does spike, it cuts the boost to a set level to prevent it happening.
pair it with the blitz power meter and you can even set boost by speed.
they are around $500 secondhand now.
This is the approach I looked at Stitty, the eBoost2 was able to replace my boost gauge (which I sold). It also meant I could mount it in a gauge pod on the dash, so access to boost changes, peak boost, peak RPM etc. was all at my fingertips. The other awesome thing was the shift buzzer, although that may probably be a moot point if you're going auto.

yeah I thought of that with the eboost 2 but I hate to say it came down to looks.
I don't really have a pod as such and the guage just doesn't look the old school look I want.
the 1/4 din of the Blitz will take up where my Turbo timer is and blend sort of into the dash
