Hey guys as title suggusts got a KE30 drag car with a worked 3K thats causing me a bit of grief.
Its got the biggest cam grind crow would give me etc now all i have on it is extractors and as you could imagine the thing is fucking noisy, i was wondering how to quieten it down with out putting mufflers etc on it.
I have already tack welded pieces of metal plate that i drilled little holes into onto the end of the extractors but it didnt quieten it down very much?
was wondering what other people have done in this situation, as i need to move the car around the backyard and whenever i do i get yelled/screamed off by neighbours lol.
Cheers Trent

plates with holes do fark all...
you really need a clamp on muffler arrangement...
since it will only be used for moving car around, just get a small one and weld on attachment to clamp onto end of whatever exhaust you use

Is the backyard concreted smooth?
Isnt it better to move the car by hand instead of starting and stopping constantly?
Get some wheel wheeler things. Clamp under tyre and has four little wheels on each one.
Just a suggestion.
mate, pushing FTW!! Or tow with another car?? Crown sounds good.
Only other one (apart from said muffler) that I have heard of is to run water through the exhaust. This is done in powerboats with inboard converted car engines. Probably not practical in this situation, unless you need to water the lawn and have a long garden hose??

Got a grass backyard on a bit of a slope so pushing not feasable lol, thanks everyone for input!
I like the idea of springs clamping the exhaust in place Chuck
Cheers for that.

An elegent solution is to use a "V band clamp", simply weld one flange to the end of your extractors, and the other to a nice quiet muffler. Dead simple to connect/disconnect at any time you wish.
cheers Chuck.

why do you need a clamp at all just make a muffler thats a reasonably tight fit you can push it on by hand and pull it off when your ifnished.

if you want something a little bit more permanent and less of a PITA get one of those exhaust valve things. You have your permanent muffler mounted and a straight though pipe with the valve in it. When you close the valve you get nice and quite, open the valve and get straight through goodness. Be a bit more costly and have a bit more weight.
Hello.
Hmm thanks for all the input guys much appreciate it, Chuck said pics of V band clamp lol I can't picture it lol (im tired lol).
What's a cheap muffler worth these days?

my last system, which was just 2.5" pipe and a single muffler was $150 at a local place.
