Gday, after buying a ta22 and leaving my t18 siting in the driveway for a week or so, moved it yesterday to notice i nice patch of oil left on the ground.
I had a quick look im pretty sure its coming from the timing chain tensioner, just wondering if anyone else has had issues with these or have i just squashed the gasket?
ive heard before that they are a bastard to seal ??
Cheers

Check River's mega 2T thread for a parts explosion of the timing chain tensioner. There is an 'O' ring at the end that seals the slotted adjustment screw inside the big hex outer nut. They usually perish.

Way down around post #16 are the pictures, cannot see them on my machine at work but somwhere there.
It is also possible that the main adjuster body has been over tightened into the head and cracked the seal there.
Regards
Rodger
My tensioner leaked when I first got my 2TG too, disassembled it, replced the orings (which had perished and gone all brittle). Reassembled it and it never leaked againOriginally Posted by quikestsilva

Not a bastard to seal at all.
As Rodger mentioned too, don't overtighten it or you'll damage the gasket between the tensioner and the head.
