Australian supra crash saftey

I read in the wikipedia that the supra 83-84 has a worse then average rating for crash victims, what ways can you increase saftey in the car without installing a roll cage?

true, drive safely. although I know lots of people who have had head on's that were'nt their fault.

statistics are like a street lamp to a drunk man, a simple source of support rather than enlightenment....

i read all the crash survey data with a grain of salt... maybe more supras crashed in that period (hello - tail happy cheap sports car) shifting the data distribution... i doubt there is any specific safety issue with the car design and construction. its better built than a LOT of shite from that era. i doubt there is anything you could do (within simple reason) to improve that -and i doubt it would have ANY influence on the statistics.

that said, there is no way it will ever compare to current construction and safety standards

New Zealand and Australia between 1987 and 004 were analysed by
Monash University’s Accident Research Centre in Melbourne.
Then, ratings on protection to drivers and harm to other road users were
calculated using an internationally reviewed method.1
The ratings on protection to drivers are influenced by the vehicle
mass, the structural design of the vehicle body and what safety features,
such as airbags and types of seat belts, are in the vehicle. There are
305 vehicle models with ratings for protection to drivers. This covers
most of the Australian and New Zealand vehicle fleets.
The rating on how much a vehicle could harm other road users
in a crash is influenced by the vehicle’s mass, body stiffness and
bonnet and bumper height. Some vehicle makes and models in this
brochure have not been rated for harm to other road users due to
insufficient data.

These factors were taken into account as much as possible when the
data was analysed. One rating measures how much the vehicle is likely
to have protected its driver when a crash occurred. The other rating
looks at crashes involving other road users and measures whether any
were harmed and how seriously. Both ratings factor out the effect, as
much as possible, of who was driving the vehicle – and where.

lol... interestingly enough the crash safety statistics state that the 86-91 supra has a VERY HIGH "How seriously is your vehicle likely to harm other road users?" rating compared to other sports cars, and other cars/vehicles generally? wtf? because they were mounted with bullbars?
