Default help needed on CT26 Identication, Ceramic or Steel

i'm planning to purchase one used CT26 turbo. the seller claim that its taken from a 7M-GTE. the exhaust housing has a single entry. how can i make sure that it is steel bladed exhaust wheel or its a ceramic type? any other methods to ensure that CT26 is a steel wheel turbine wheel?

well 7MGTE are all steel , and as far as i know the difference between 3s and 7M ct's are the size of the exhaust housing and the fact the 3s one is twin entry...

    both are steel i think

I always thought they were all steel turbines, not that I took much notice of
prehistoric turbos (Garrett GT series FTW).
Easiest way to tell, take along a magnet.

CT26 from 3sgte twin entry was ceramic..

7mgte ct26 single entry was steel..

Hmm magnet... not sure? I tried that once on a steel turbine wheel and it didn't stick. Someone said the metals used in exhaust wheels are not magnetic.. But that may be gospel.

As above, if it's really a 7M turbo it will have a steel turbine. If you don't trust the seller though, the only way to be sure is to eyeball the turbo for yourself - it's pretty easy to spot the difference.

Only the JDM ones. All ADM and Group A ST185's were steel wheeled.

magnet wont work, when they say steel wheel, its actually a steel composite. hence non magnetic.

youd be amazed how many people try sticking magnets to them.. me for one. lol.

BTW, not all 7M CT26s are steel wheeled. When stitty had his rebuilt in order to clip the turbine blades they had to replace the ceramic wheel for a steel one

yeah, a cheap replacement for a busted 7m turb was to get a cruiser one which is ceramic wheeled. they are no different exept for the ceramic wheel, and if you are running stock boost will work as well.
