Just picked up a free rear subframe from a jzz30 soarer. Are the diff's the same or can they be made to fit in a jza70. Reason why i'm so interested is that it's a TOM's racing LSD.
1990 SW20 MR2 turbo Gen III 3S-GTE conversion, Microtech, 3" exhaust = 264.9rwhp
1985 JZA61 2JZ-GTE + TO4Z = 442.1rwhp @ 18psi
1991 JZA70 Limited 2JZ-GTE vvti Single turbo In Progress
1997 JZX101 Mark II Grande G
1980 MA45 Undergoing Restoration
ones a A diff and ones a G diff , both 200 mm and everyone says the internals interchange .

I'll get some pics today so somone can verify what it is. Importer doesn't really know for sure which car it came off. He's got a jza70 halfcut and a jzz30 halfcut. So it could be off either car.

Nah it's different to that. I'll get some pics.

They are not interchangable. The jza70 is a G series the JZZ30 is an A series None of the internals are interchangable
The first pic is a JZA70 diff the second a JZZ30 diff

Jealousy is a curse
And just to add my 2c, not even the centres themselves will swap over unfortunantly.
jzz30 = uzz30 = aristo = jza80 (Execpt TT AND 6spd), and nothing else fits
according to the TRD site, jza70 centres are compatible with jzx90/100
Note that only early TT 6-speed JZA80's had the larger B-series diff. I think it was 95 or 96 they switched to A-series for all models.Originally Posted by edwagon

When the later 6spd TT's went back to an A series, did they change back the exact same housing etc as the other A series diffs?Originally Posted by Norbie
What Im guess im asking is, is it only the B series which has those "wings" on the alloy hat of the diff? and did they still use the same 3.2 ratio when they went to the A series?
I need to ID a 6spd TT diff over the phone - whats the easiest way to tell aseries vs b series?
The B series was the only one to use the "wings" on the alloy cover. The B series also had a different yoke on the pinion. The later model 6 speed diff was the same ratio and I suspect it retained the different yoke peculiar to the 6 speed.

Alchemist, yours IS an A series - A02B, the first A means its an A series - 200mm crownwheel, the last letter is either A for single spinner or B for torsen, so yours is an A series diff, 02 ratio, with a Torsen LSD.
the B series diffs would be something like B03B for the trans code.
Man, I wish I had that chassis tag on my car!
*EDIT* have just noticed that your's in non turbo, which is why its got the A series diff
It was only the 6spd TURBOS which had the bigger B series diff
Edwagon, thanks for pointing that out....go me, woo... *hides*
It's is a nice trans combo though....
Well I've always been learning from Toymods and just as you think you can post something intelligent, it turns out you are totally wrong...oh dear...heheh![]()

JZX90/100 have an A series and indeed G series parts fit like a glove.
I have a JZX90 A series diff with a TRD 2way i took from a JZX81 G series and 4.3 ratio gears taken from I believe a Hilux ute and they are quite happy with one another in the race car.

yeah man if you are talking about eldars diff that came with the silver supra half cut.... its definantly JZZ30
Had both JZZ30's and JZA70's cars before and know that is JZZ30
Matty
Jzz30's all and only ever had A0xA or A0xB, which are the same as the A0xX jza80 diffs. No jzz30 soarer came with a B0xX diff, this was ONLY ever in the TT, 6spd jza80s
The jzx90/100s do indeed have smaller diffs, but are also coded A0xX, which caught me out at one stage as I ended up with an expensive diff which didn't fit my soarer!! The jzx90/100s seem to use A0xD to denote lsds.
Also Altezzas use A0xX diff coding too, and these are actually smaller again, being the same as an F series centre.
I think you will find that Hiluxes have "A" and "B" designations for their diffs in the later models and you will find they are still the same size diffs as earlier models although with differences inside.
Jealousy is a curse
I think some are...this is pics I took of a supra diff in a soarer rear end on a soarer cruise. Bolts line up!
