Hi All,
Reading the FAQ's, I came across an article on cleaning ISC valves, to cure poor / eratic idling problems.
As all the valves pictured look different to mine, has anyone done this on a 3S-FE??
I'm thinking it would be worth doing.
Cheers.
take off your intake hose
take off your three vacuum lines above
take off the coolant lines below (2 coolant)
take off hose from iscv below (near the coolant hoses)
take off throttle cable
unplug TPS, and two other thing on the iscv.
remove throttle body (there are four bolts)
ISCV is held on underneath with four phillips head screws.
clean and reinstall in reverse order.
blue arrows = vacuum lines, lower one is the PCV hose
red arrow = intake
yellow arrows = ISC plug, TPS plug
green arrow = throttle cable
black arrows = the two top bolts, there are two underneath.

Quick question, is this a similar setup on the Gen 1 3SGE? If so I think this might be the cause of my idle problems in my st162.
Thanks for the info,
Looks like I have a job to do this weekend...
major clod, i'd imagine that it would be the same, probably best for one of the st162 boys to answer, though the two engines are similar enough for me to say yep![]()
Just be careful with carby cleaner, some ISCV's have components that melt or are damaged from it. Maybe use a rag with some carby cleaner on it, or use WD40.

Thought I should give some feedback,
First, thanks for the diagram on the ISC valve on the 3S-FE. (camry sv21)
I followed your directions and removed and cleaned it yesterday - WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
I also gave the throttle body a good clean up while it was off, and renewed a couple of 17 year old vacuum hoses. (they looked a little perished.....)
Thanks for the advice.
not a problem mate. it didnt make that much of a difference on mine, just made the idle a tad smoother, but it felt good to clean out throttle body butterflymine was caked thick with oil, eventually i'll change all the vacuum hoses too.
Cheers![]()
i got so sick of mine i blocked off the water lines and removed the magnetic controller part! lol
