I am trying to fix up the stereo in my girlfriend Rolla.
It had a very dodgy cheap ass radio installed , and was missing the brackets etc.
Got a new surround and some AE82 stereo brackets, but I still can't work out how it goes together. I think I still maybe missing something?
Does anyone have some pics of how it all mounts together?
Cheers
Firstly, You will need to fit the pocket above the stereo as there is not enough depth in the dash for it. Thats if you have the pocket. If so, it screws into the surround on an AE-82.
Then mount the deck to the factory brackets in the lower holes. These will line up on any decent deck.
You wont need the trim surround that comes with your new stereo.
Sorry I don't have any pics as I don't own an 82 but have done heaps of installs in them.
Also, have you rewired the speakers? You cannot hook an aftermarket stereo to the factory stereo loom.
the top "hole" can be used with come decks, i was able to use it with my JVC and sony deck but when using with and amp i couldnt so it depends on the HU.Originally Posted by GTtwin
i used the stock wiring with my deck and it worked fine, was a later 88 model so i think they changed wiring maybe but the front speakers definitely worked fine without changing any wiring.
The wiring remained the same on all oz delivered AE-82's. Front Left + is grey/red, Front Right + is grey/black and they share a common negative which is purple/white. On all modern high power decks you cannot link speaker negatives, so it requires at least one new speaker negative to be run to a front speaker.
Thanks guys got the wiring sorted allready didn't need and extra wires though.
I have a factory rolla pocket and pioneer CD which bolt nicely to the side brackets.
My problem is I cannot see how the bracket is meant to line up in the car.
The car was missing it's brackets, are all AE82 brackets the same?
Pic of bracket attached. Am I missing another piece?

I have been pruned by old man river!!!!!
some aftermarket cd/tuners (namely cheaper ones like BOSS and that), have a common ground for the front speakers, so this makes it handy if you want to use factory wiring that has a common front ground. but yeah any decent one will have seperate negatives and no, you dont wanna hook those together......or you WILL blow the internal amps
you're a year late there matey![]()
