Hi guys, our new HSD weld-on coilover sleeve kits have finally arrived:

New from HSD, these all-purpose sleeve kits are the easiest way to convert your struts into height-adjustable coilovers. They are ideal for older cars or more unusual models where no off-the-shelf coilovers are available.

Available in 48mm and 51mm internal diameter, the weld-on sleeves are anodised steel. Each kit includes two sleeves, two spring seats, two lock nuts, two main springs, two tender springs and an upper spring locator. You can choose between 4kg/mm and 5kg/mm (224lb and 280lb) springs.

At only $299 per kit the new HSD Sleeve kits are great value. Most similar kits on the market do not include springs or tender springs.

you use your factory shocks Juan...you simply cut down your struts and weld on the sleeve kit...

id reccomend fitting something with a shorter stroke though...as you will want to slam it

Another newb question, if you are cutting down the strut tube, where does the gland nut screw into (shock retaining ring thingy)?

I will get Linden from Roadrunner to give the proper answer (when he wakes up!!!!!!) but generally you can section the strut tube and weld in the sleeve kit.

As you can see this type of conversion is not for everyone and I would and will refer all customers to Linden at Roadrunner for the fabrictaion of these coilover kits.

Most suspension/ performance shops should be able to do this also.

As you can see in the photo we do not supply camber tops wth these kits however there is nothing stopping you using them on Strut type applications.

id reccomend fitting something with a shorter stroke though...as you will want to slam it

to fit these kits it depends on what struts your fitting them to. if they are sealed struts then you will have to cut the tops of and get something like koni's that have a threaded section on the bottom of the insert and you bolt it on from underneath.

if they're unsealed then you should be able to get direct replacement inserts from someone like KONI and you only cut away the spring base not the top of the strut.


thses kits are a bargain as i spent cloase to 1k once i got the springs, tender springs and locator

i'll put a pic of ones i made for my st162 when i find it. or look in the forsale section of spikeyjoes st162 gt2, he bought them of me.

What exactly do the tender springs do, and where are they normally located in the overall setup?

they keep the springs captive (ie legal) so that the spring is always under pressure and cannot unseat.

With the 51mm ID set, do you know what the included springs free length is and what the internal diameter of the springs are?

I'd probably be looking at the 4kg/mm springs if I get a set, and already have a set of 5kg/mm springs with a 65mm internal diameter, so want to check whether they'd sit on the perches properly?
