hey guys im just a begginer at this sorta thing so would be great 2 get sum tips of everyones knoledge on this site.........i currently have a 1998 hulix dualcab......ive done the whole mini truckin thing and lowered it as much as it'll go b4 the diff hits the chassy....and all the body work and big rims........i know the next step is 2 put it on airbags but im thinking differently....ive been reading up on these motors and from wat ive heard they go realy realy well with a turbo.......ive also heard that the original gear boxes dont hold up 2 the power......so i was wondering wat box is a direct replacement 2 handle the power......ive heard a supra 5 speed bolts strait up but wanted 2 know how true it was......and if the 5speed does bolt strait up will the supra 6speed do the same?????
any feedback would be greatly appreciated
cheers sam
The Supra 5spd (R154) wont bolt straight up, U will have to purchase an adaptor bellhousing, the only company that I know of that do a R box to RZ conversion kit is marlincrawler in the states. The R154 is plenty strong enough for just about anything u can dish out.

see my 3rz supra thread as i am using an R154 box behind the 3rz.
after some searching i found the 2.7 2006-on hilux with a 2TR-FE has the same bellhousing an a R150 box.
this means you need to make a spacer (see thread again)

hello
indeed, Didnt know of that, would be quite cheaper Id imagine. Am I correct in thinking that if a R151 was used instead of a R154 no spacer would be required?
How much roughly was it for 06 lux bellhousing and to have the 32mm spacer made up?
with the current dollar value it will cost about $8-900 for marlin to get there kit to ur door, surely the new lux bell and spacer wud be cheaper then that.

think i paid $400 and something for the bellhousing and fork etc.
i got the 32mm alloy plate off ebay for under $100.
then i just cut it with a bandsaw, ie no fab costs.
ohh there was new bolts in there too ($30?)
hello
You might find the ratios might be a little messed up in a r151 compared to a r154
Personally i would just leave the w56 in it and when it shits it self put in a w58 from a na supra.
They only take an hour or two to change when on a hoist anyway
I am planning to fit a 3RZ to 4x4 4runner, I already have the R151f fitted to the diesel with 4.56 diffs so the ratios should be right for the 4x4.
youll be laughing then if you can find a 2TR-FE manual bellhousing then.
bolt in!
hello
Thats always a bonusjust need to find a second hand turbo kit for the 3RZ now
some mob called XXXturbo sell a kit i think.
check the 3rz dedicated thread, fair bit of info there
