    Default diff choice for old celica

    posting for a mate.. he is considering getting one with a dodgy diff.. wants to know what will fit in it, what ppls have used... its an 84 model... thats all i know..

    dodgy in what way? it'd be an f diff which should easily handle the powa of a 22R

    is it just a bit of whining?

    RT142 irs models use the same crossmember and diff, i think they're the same ratio too.

    Otherwise, you can get the diff from MA61 or MX73 - will bolt in there, but have lower gears.
    I'll have a spare RA65 diff before too long, as I'm fitting a G diff to mine.

    which ratio is it? 3.58 or 3.73? i might just buy it off you either way.

    There are quite a few RA65's in wreckers if you go looking, so if you just want another diff to get the car going it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure it's an RA65 though, not RA60 or SA63.

    3.5 according to the plate, I'll check it out when I take it out.

    manual is the 3.5 and auto is the 3.7 , personally i think the 3.7 would be a good all round diff ratio .
