1jz-gte...gearbox

i just priced a 5spd for my 1jz im bout to put in my 84 supra..they were asking $2750

i thought thats pretty exspensive..im thinkin bout just goin tho old auto..waz wondering weather the 7m auto's fit behind the jz..if sum1 could let me know wich boxes fit behind the jz would be very thankfull?

search w58 and r154 and you should get lots of info.both of these boxes will fit j engines with the correct bellhousing,there are a lot of other details you can immerse yourself in.The reason you had no replies is because people expect others to use the search function before asking questions that are very common.

for just the gearbox ?

are u sure they didnt mean the engine + gearbox

coz that price is fucking stupid for just a gb

nah man im serious i was like what the fuck!!! i even said are you sure hes like yer they charge 2,500 for front cut with just motor and 2,750 for gearbox ..dodgy i rekn

Oh, i do beg your pardon...

The electronicly controlled automatic transmissions that are usually situated behind the 1JZ-GTE engines are a supurb piece of equipment, lightyears ahead of the competitors offerings. They can also easilly be fitted with a tiptronic controller to allow manual shifting.

I heartilly suggest that you go for a journey in a car equipped with one, before deciding to head down the expensive path that a manual conversion can be.
