Default 3SGTE Remove Oil Cap = Engine Stalls

Just been servicing a friends SW20 Turbo and have noted that when you remove the Oil Cap with the engine running its comes very close to stalling and sometimes will ???

    This Normal ?

Have tried this on all 3 of my 7MGTE`s and nothing changes , Also tried it on my 4AGZE and 22R without these effects !!!!!!

Hmm it's normal for the idle to drop a bit, but sounds like some serious blowby if it's actually stalling.
How many km;s on the motor?

Its had another engine fitted in recent months so no idea on condition or Kilometres , Might be time for a compression test.

Crankcase is part of intake system by PCV valve, if PCV valve is not working properly can draw in too much air when take rocker cover of giving symptons you are taking about.

you've created giant leak in the inlet hose and air is going into the engine via the cam cover breather. The air going is affecting the reading the afm is giving to the computer.

The last time i ran my engine without a oil cap it flooded the sparkplug valley and make for a good smoke show. Why do you want to run without the cap?

No reason why i would want to , Just something that caused concern

From your comments and now when i stand back and look at what you guys have said , Its makes sense to why it wouldnt run without a Oil cap

MAP doesn't give a rats if there is an air leak. AFM will because it's "measured" all the air in the system. My 1G will change engine revs and labour a bit with the cap closed. Won't stall though.
