Hi everyone,
Time has come to put new spark plugs, and when I removed them to my suprise they were NGK BP5EY's. The gap my mechanic had been running was like 1.42mm! He said when we put the MSD 6A in he'd open the gap, but 1.42mm? That's crazy. Toyota reccomends 0.8mm out of the factory, and I seriously doubt installing an MSD warrants opening them up another .7 - .8 mm right?
So are BP5EY's a good plug to be running in my engine? The NGK website reccomends BPR5EY for an 18R-GEU, but a BPR6EY for an 18R-G. I bought some BP6EY's and installed them myself, and opened them up to 1.0mm. Seems to be running ok. Sound about right?
Cheers,
Ren.
