Default 1JZ powersteering pump, what fits?

i need a new pump for my 1jz-gte and was wondering what other engines have the same pump, or a pump that will fit with minimal mods
i have considered rebuilding my existing one, but have been told that when the leak from all the seals on the pump they cant be reapaired? was told this by someone whose pump leaked like mine and cut out like mine (generally under 1000rpm, but ive also had it drop out at 2000rpm a couple of times ) and he took it to a workshop and thats what they told him

    any help is appreciated

I ditched the whole thing and used the hydro side from the water pump to run my power steering, its still working perfectly after well over 3 years

i checked it all out first and the pumps are the same generic size type and pressure, just the flow rate was a bit greater, they both have a flow controll shuttle built in so the flow remains constant regardless of engine reves

all that is needed is a small restrictor placed at the controll shuttle outlet, which is piss easy to do, this reduces the flow from the pump without changing the pressure and it wont load up the pump.

i just tapped the hole and screwed in a little countersunk bolt with a 3mm hole down the centre, it can all be done without taking it apart or anything

then wire 12v to the solenoid to turn the pump on and....... PRESTO one waterpump / powersteer pump all in one

2jz ones fit (at least the bracket is the same)

The pump can be rebuilt, you can get a seal kit off Toyota (at least you can for the 1uz, I would be very surprised if the jz was any different)

Most 1jz's have a Water pump and hydrulic pump built into the water pump. The hydrulics are for the fans to cool the radiator normally...

as said above most 1j's have a hydraulic fan powered by a pump on the front of the water pump, problem is mine is on the car all plumbed up

and yea would have to run some nice little light weight thermo's or something for the radiator

.... will post a full tech article soon with pics etc its real basic
