    Default lexus wheel offsets?

    hey guys,

ive got a hilux, and ive got a set of IS200 wheels for it, but i wouldn't mind a set of 17x8's.. so i was thinking about the GS300 wheels?

the IS200 wheels sit a long way inboard, it would be nice to get the wheels out into the guards a bit more, and im not sure if i can fit too much more inwards...

anyone have any idea about the comparison of these? or where i can find out?

here are what the IS200's look like..

Fairly certain that both IS and GS rims use +50 offset like the Soarer & Supra.

Hi Mate, you will need to use a pre AU falcon wheel offset, or get some rather large bolt on spacers. Most of the Toyota/Lexus luxo's and the Soarers/Supra's/ etc have an offset in the 35mm to 50mm range.

    cheers Chuck.

im not going to use spacers.. if that means i can't use these wheels.. thats fine

i know im going to sound like a gumby, but what does a +50 offset actually mean? is that the distance from the face of the wheel to the back of the studs? or from the centre? or?

If you have an 8"(200mm) wide wheel the centreline will be 4" (100mm) in from either side.

Offset is calculated from that centreline.

A 50mm offset means the hub mount is now offset from centre towards the outer edge of the rim by 50mm.

Backspace, is when you move the hub towards the inner side of the wheel.

Old hotrods with huge dish on the rim, will have a backspace, or neutral offset.

Newer cars, and all front wheel drive cars, use positive offset, where the manufacturer has tried to give the best possible track. You can still get big dished rims, but the centre still stays where it should be, and the spokes are simply curved back towards the centreline of the wheel to give you the look.

    Hope this helps, cheers Chuck

i know that new fowlcoon wheels will fit on a hilux okay, (in 17x8's) it would be nice to keep them toyota though..

you will have a hard time finding factory toyota wheels to fit a hilux sadly...as the offsets on the front are a bit ghey for fitting stuff off IS200's, soarers, supras and the like

I had a set of lenso AG's on my hilux and they were 17x8 +30 all round and they still scrubbed on something mildly on absolute full lock...

the advantages I guess mean you can fit wheels with more dish under the guards legally...
